Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows

Hi people!

I recently watched this pretty interesting film of mine. It’s called Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows. It’s a sequel to a previous film, but I haven’t seen the first one. This one was made in 2011 and stars Robert Downing Jr and Jude Law. There is a lot of hype (and perhaps deserved, but I haven’t seen it yet) about a series called Sherlock. No, this is not connected, so don’t get it confused ^^

This film shows us another classic and capturing battle versus Sherlock and Moriarity. It begins with murders, terrorist attacks and many other things Sherlock has pieced together to be related to Moriarity. He wants to put an end to this, and asks his assistant, Dr. Watson to help. He refuses, because he is getting married the next day. The case brings the face to face with Moriarity, encountering gypsies and assassinations and of course, outrageous disguises.

This film also uses flashes of what will happen in Sherlock’s mind for a fight. At first, I thought it was a little bit weird, and I wasn’t sure I liked it. But then, I decided it was genius. It showed how his mind ran through everything he would have to do before he did it in a few seconds flat. There was also the little flashes of the necessary clues that Sherlock picked up on to help solve the cases. But the best thing about the awesome filming was the slow motion scene. There was one in a forest, with a lot of gun shooting going on. I loved the effect of the slow motion, and it showed details you’d have missed otherwise. It would’ve great to see this in blu-ray, come to think of it.

It’s a long film though, at two hours. Packed with action, intelligence and of course, comedy, it’s a must-watch from me!

A Whole lot of Questions Tag!

Good morning! I hope you guys all have a great weekend!

This week I've been busy spring cleaning! Which also means I have now done 4/65 things on my spring bucket list. I will be doing more things this week hopefully! I also got tagged for this post by the lovely Beverly, so I am going to do fill out the questions now :)

Apple juice or orange juice? Apple, always. There is no thinking necessary.

Are you a morning or night person? Both? I wake up early and work really well, and then work really late into the night too. Who needs sleep? ;) I just don't like the middle of the day -.-

Which do you prefer, sweet or salty foods? It depends! I love cupcakes but salty popcorn is tempting too...

Are you a collector of anything? Books, nail polish, DVDs and CDs.

Ninjas or pirates? Ninjas, of course. Ninjas are so cool D:

Autobots or Decepticons? I this a deceptive question? No one knows what those things are xD

What was your favourite childhood television program? Now this is hard, I watched so many! I especially remember loving That's so Raven and Lizze McGuire though.

If you could be any animal, what would you be? An owl ;)

If you could have any superpower, what would it be? I would love to be able to time travel. In the TARDIS. With the Tenth Doctor...

What is usually your first thought when you wake up? Er... I run through what I have to do for the day to mentally prepare myself for it?

What do you usually think about right before falling asleep? I usually think about the book I just read or life in general.

What's your favorite color? ORANGE!

What's your favorite animal? Dolphins and owls.

Do you believe in extraterrestrials or life on other planets? Nope. But if there is, I don't mind as long as they leave us alone.

Do you believe in ghosts? Not really.

Ever been addicted to a video/computer game? Which one(s)? Uh... so many. I love Sims 2 (still kinda do) and Animal Corssing (still kinda do).

You're given 1 million dollars, what do you spend it on? I'd send my parents off to Hawaii and well, give some to my family and make sure we all have enough to cover uni debts. Buy some books and then charity? Honestly I wouldn't know what to do with it -.-

Have any bad habits? Itching without noticing so sometimes I wake up covered in cuts. Not fun.

Which bad habits, if any, drive you crazy? Snoring as loud as my dad does xD Also biting nails when there is absolutely no nails left D: It just looks painful!

List 3 or your best personality traits: Caring, open-minded, and determined?

List 3 of your worst personality traits: Pessimistic at times, shy and as other people say, I open up enough, I keep my problems to myself.
List 1 thing you wish you could change about yourself: I would probably like to be less shy.

Any tattoos or piercings? Just the standard ear ones.

What's the first thing you notice in the opposite sex? If they can manage my different moods (which is difficult trust me :P)
What personality traits do you look for in a partner? Someone honest who you can debate with without it becoming an argument. And someone who sticks up for you :3

What personality traits do you dislike in other people? I don't like spoilt people who are ignorant.

Are you mostly a clean or messy person? I call it clean. My friends call it clean. My mum calls it messy.

Do you see yourself getting married in the next 5 years? Seeing as I'm 15, not really? :P
Have any celebrity crushes? JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT and Channing Tatum in his older movies, not his later ones...
If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? I would love to be in England. Somewhere quiet where the city isn't too far though.
If you could visit anywhere in the world, where would you go? China!
List 5 goals on your life's to-do list: Be happy, keep my family happy, publish something, value what is happening and what I've done in my life as well as make a difference.
Name 1 thing you miss about being a kid: No school!

Name 1 thing you love about being an adult: Seeing as I'm not an adult, I'll so teen. I love the small amount of more independence you get. Not much, but be happy with what you have!
What's your favourite song of the moment? I have a new one every day! Right now I am  digging Rocket by Beyoncé and Silly Little Things by Shannon Saunders.

What's your favourite song of all time? That is an impossible question to answer.

What's your favorite thing to do on a Saturday night? Watch a movie!

What would be your dream job? Full time author and blogger/vlogger.

Which would you rather have, 100 million dollars or true love? True love of course!

If you could have 3 wishes granted, what would they be?
World peace, no more global warming and a happy, healthy family.

Ever wish you were born the opposite sex? If so, why? Yes! Every time the monthlies roll around ;)

Name 1 thing not many people know about you: I have climbed a waterfall even though I am petrified of heights.
If you HAD to change your name, what would you change it to? Nooo! I love my name :3 I wouldn't change it ever!
Do you believe in the afterlife? Yes! I want to go to heaven!

On the topic of abortion, how do you feel about cookies? Cookies are awesome! Gimme some, pwease?

Do-it-yourself! (with someone)

Hey there!

I just wanted to start off by mentioning I have completed 3/65 things on my Spring Bucketlist! Today I hugged every member of my family, which was one point, and I also went into town and bought a berry smoothie. :)

For this challenge we had to write something about bargaining or doing it yourself... and to be honest for the first time I was stumped. I haven't been doing anything of this sort for a while... so I decided to do a do-it-with-someone :D

A few weeks back at school we had different workshops for an activity week. Basically, we got to spray a lot of graffiti! It was pretty easy to pick up and after a few tries, it worked pretty well. I made one for the blog with my flag on it. It also has a musical note because I love music! There is an eye because I love reading, writing and just watching things! Weird I know, but honest :3 Here are the results!

I advise you try out graffiti, it's super fun and not too hard to get the hang of!

How to Write a Poem

Hey there folks!

So the other day I started my spring bucketlist, and seeing as there are two weeks holiday I hope to get a lot more of the tasks done soon! Seeing as I only blog twice a week I can't tell you when I do every one, so I might make them combined in one post or perhaps even blog about them after spring as well! Anyways, for task 1/65 I had to write a poem about a rainy day. Seeing as I'm also doing NaPoWriMo this helped :D

A lot of people want to break into poetry and don't know how. So here are some tips on how I do it. Not necessarily how you have to.

1. I use a mind map. I try and have a topic or subject or theme to my poem. This is more so when I'm not hit by sudden inspiration but want to flesh out a single theme or something. Plonk that in the middle of your mind map and then I show ways I could represent it or words I want to use.

2. Organise my stanzas. (Form) I then make a list, like: 1st stanza: words: rain, smile, laugh and representation: holding hands, friends together or something like that. Then I know what I want to talk about in each stanza. I also decide whether or not I want four or five lines in a stanza, or to have some phrase repeated or not. Usually I used to say whatever about form - just write and let it be. Nowadays I'm more experimental when it comes to form.

3. Time to write it! Time to write what you've planned! I sometimes be mindful to try and use alliteration, metaphors and other poetic techniques. Sometimes they fit in perfectly and I don't even have to think about it. When it's a really raw or emotional poem I would just say forget this - if information this scribble down what you're envisioning in your mind!

4. It's time to share! (then edit) Let people read it! I'm don't really share much of what I write with my family. If I really like it or am hyped about it, then maybe my lil sister and an older sister who writes as well can read it. Mostly I put it up on The Young Writers Society and get valuable feedback! Take all they say and what looks wrong to you after leaving it for a day, and tweak it!

Now, for the poem I wrote about a rainy day... It's called 'Oncoming Spring' and is in the form of a Rubaiyat.

Don’t you love the heavy smell when it rains?
Drops rushing down your skin, taking the pain,
clearing away all your sins for a new
start after those months that drove you insane.

The tongue-lashes, belt-lashes you bared through
as the piles of snow slowly grew and grew.
Always trapped in the house, stuck in your room,
body and mind separated in two.

But hush now dear, for there shall be no doom.
Rain shall wash away all lingering gloom.
Because after the rain comes a warm spring
that makes happiness and smiles start to bloom.

Divergent: Movie Review

Good morning!

Yesterday evening I went to the cinema to watch a film I had been waiting to see for quite some time! It's called Divergent! I have read all the books, and you can see my review of the last one, Allegiant, here. The film stars many well know actors/actresses like Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Kate Winslet and Miles Teller.

The film follows the plot of the book. Beatrice lives in a world which is split by factions based on different beliefs. When she takes a test that shows her she is Divergent, she learns she will never fit into just one faction. Four, a friend she quickly makes discovers a plot which is to erase the threat of Divergents. Can Tris and Four stop it in time?

What I really liked about the film was that it stuck to the book, which is what book-fanatics like me love! There were some scenes which weren't there, like the butterknife one and also the celebration of a certain death (I am trying not to give too much away for those who haven't read it yet!) but it did keep the most important things in there, and some small details too. I loved the clothing and the landscapes, I thought they were appropriate and detailed enough to satisfy me. I loved the use of camera angels... especially these three moments: when Beatrice's hair is being cut, when she is pulling on the brake from the zipline, and lastly a small moment when Tris leaves Toni's side in the tattoo shop and then reappears.

My main problem with the film was that it took away all the juicy gore! In the ring when they fight, the most I saw were bruises and bloody noses. Nothing too terrible. Also, Peter is supposed to be more cruel. In the film he was lightly teasing, but in the book he's picking Tris up and slamming her against the wall. There is just more violence in general. I feel bad saying I want more violence but I did :P

I loved Shailene Woodley's acting, I think she did a brilliant job in the role of Tris. When I first saw the cast choice I wasn't sure, but now, I definitely am. I liked Theo James acting as well. Some of my mates think he is super smexy but sadly I don't agree :( He is just okay as he is ^.^ (But Joseph Gordon-Levitt... now that's a different story >.>)

Anyways, I am looking forwards to going and seeing Insurgent when it comes! The film was directed by Neil Burger. The film runs for 139 minutes and is rated a 12. Many questions are comparing this to Catching Fire and I would say... Catching Fire was a better film! But Divergent sure does come close. Now go watch it :D
