The Fast and Furious (Movie Review)

Hello there, everyone!

It took me a while to get around to writing this movie review and I don’t even know why. Today I am going to tell you about an old movie, made in 2001 which I’m sure you’ve heard of called ‘The Fast and the Furious.’ It stars two notably famous actors called Vin Diesel and Paul Walker. The movie follows Dominic Toretto [Vin Diesel] who owns the streets when it comes to road-racing with his gang. His rival and him are the boldest and baddest and of course, the best. But then a detective is set on their case to infiltrate and inspect the group about some criminal activity has been going on. What will he find out?

What I loved so much about this film was that before it I had no interest in cars AT ALL prior to watching this one. I still don’t know all the details about the way a car particularly works, but after seeing this film I am perfectly open to watching more racing films and I love the idea of someday sitting in a really REALLY fast car. I don’t want to drive it of course O.O (that’s just scary thinking…) but I wouldn’t mind sitting in it to experience the feeling myself. All the cutting and filming around the cars was just done expertly.

Also, I am someone who is really interested in gangs in general. I love knowing how they work, especially the type of gangs who turn out to be more like family than they are with their real family, or because they don’t have one themself. I felt like this film brought that element in really well, and showed us what it’s like to be in a family-ish-gang-combination :D

There is quite a bit of action in this one, but all of that revolves around the cars. Yet, I still found it to be pretty intriguing. Also, there is a lot of features of ‘girls’ in the typical way that happens in movies which are more so directed towards guys.  I’m never a huge fan of it, but I overlooked it in this movie and could also appreciate how they had two female characters who knew their way around cars and how to drive just as well as the men could.

My face when I think about cars now...
I strongly advise you watch it, even if cars aren’t necessarily your thing. The movie runs for about 102 minutes and was directed by Rob Cohen. It’s rated a 15 and I would definitely give it five stars.

New Video!

I have my book haul in video form for all those who prefer watching instead of reading about it ^.^

Olivia's Question: Are you into cars or is all that over your head?

  1. I've actually never watched this movie! Maybe I should, I always enjoy those shows at theme parks where they do crazy car stunts. I wouldn't like sitting in a speeding car like you mention, but I'd like to do the driving myself, I get kind of nervous when someone else is driving fast :P

By the way, I wanted to let you know that I've nominated you for the Sunshine Blogger Award and the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award :) you can find it here: http://lipstickandmocha.blogspot.com/2015/09/sunshine-blogger-award-sisterhood-of.html

    1. Thanks so much for nominating me! You should try these movies for sure :3 I am sure a lot more people would be more comfortable doing it themselves but I would be petrified of messing it up. I think I need a professional to drive for me!

  2. I'm totally freaked out by fast car, too. Being in them, why not but actually driving them? No way! I would be too afraid to die, lol. I think I must have watched Fast and Furious like eons ago. Even if you know nothing about car, you can definitely still enjoy the movie. I'm also interested in how gang and the mafia works and what they do. I just find it fascinating. I even read a couple of books about them, lol. Great review!

    1. I would petrified I would mess up and risk my life! I would rather someone who had been driving fast for years was safely doing it instead of me. Yes, even if you have no prior knowledge you can still follow the movie! I liked this so much :3

  3. I've seen this movie during a school trip. They put it on the bus TV or something and yes, it was entertaining but not something I particularly enjoy. Still, the whole action surrounding the cars is amazing (I love special effects the most in this kind of films) but I didn't continue on with the saga. I'm not much into cars. I know how the basic stuff works and that's about it. I wish I knew more to be honest but as you put it is all over my head hahaha

    1. Ah, I can see how this might not be the kind of film for a lot of things. But the special effects were done amazingly well here!

  6. I had fun with the first two movies in the series, but never got around to watching the rest. Maybe I need to seek out number 3!

  7. The Fast and Furious series are amazing! And Vin Diesel is such an great actor, it makes the movie all the more exceptional. And those action scenes! I love fast cars or at least the idea of driving/owning/experiencing one.

  8. Can you imagine that I've never even seen it?! I should after reading this.

  9. *sniffles* I've never even watched the seventh one yet but I know how good it is. I just don't want to have to think about what happened with Paul walker which is the main reason I'm hesitant. BUT with that being said, maybe I should still watch them all from the beginning? Have you watched the 7th one yet girl?

    1. I actually have seen it because my sister really wanted to go so I saw it out of order with her. It was AHMAZING plot wise. Emotional when the ending song came on :/ I think it is okay to see movies with deceased featured in them, because isn't that we do with old movies? And old songs? It is part of life. But it will be hard, of course. That doesn't defy that fact...

    1. Yes! But I still find it worthwhile to go back and watch old movies you missed out on.

  11. I've not seen this movie (any F & F movie, for that matter). If I were a car-loving girl, I'd probably be all over this. :)

  13. I haven't seen the movie, and never wished to do so. But you've opened my eyes to the possibilities. Will I be one of the girls in the short skirts peering into the motor? Hehe. I think not.

    1. Ahaha I don't think I would be one of them either! But I guess there are people around the world like that.

  14. I'm not much into cars, except the ones I love. :D As for gangs, in reality, they're not so beautifully painted. I'm a native of Chicago, so gangs aren't ever looked at in a positive light.

Love your video. You have such a nice voice. Developing Minds sounds interesting. I'd like to see how the author depicts schools in America. I had no idea Europeans have heard many poor things regarding the U.S. school systems.

    1. I don't think gangs can ever be a positive thing. They are generally bad and cause a lot of trouble, but when it comes to some gangs... some are tightly knit almost like a family. Others are basically made on power and money, and if you mess up you're out. Not all of them though.

Ahaha thank you <3 I actually have, so I was interested to see how that book will portray things. I look forward to reading it, and thanks for watching x

  15. I watched this movie years ago, but I enjoyed it back then. But I can't say it made me love cars because I already did. You should watch Tokyo Drift if you haven't already. The best of the series in my opinion

  16. One of my favorite movie series! I cried at the theater watching Fast Seven. I love how the loyalty and family bonds stay strong throughout. As you will see with each movie you watch. Especially the last 3. Great review!

    1. It definitely felt emotional, especially as the crew themselves have a tight knit bond and after everything that happened as well...

  17. I love love this film, and as you mentioned its the bonds and charisma between the characters both real and acted that makes the film for me. I can't recommend it enough :)
