Olivia Snaps ~ Must Reads!

Happy weekend!

Olivia Snaps is a meme where I share some of my photography, whether bookish or non-bookish.

I can't believe it is only the second day into 2016. I'm already exhausted because I have been doing a little bit of everything. I'm feeling productive but I can already see how this much work isn't going to last. Gonna have to rethink my schedule to slot in some more downtime...

But, putting that aside, here are some bookish snaps for you! These are all books I would greatly recommend for one reason or another.

Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe is one of the few LGBT books I can bear, if I am honest. Which is why I would recommend it!

Allegiant by Veronica Roth is a book so many people skip over because they know what the plot twist is. Don't do that! It's well worth reading! I thought it was brave of her to do such a thing for the plot twist, and I liked it, personally. It's just that the rest of the book wasn't too exciting which let it down just a little.

I can't speak for the final book in this trilogy because I haven't reached that one yet. But Anna and the French Kiss and Lola and the Boy Next Door were brilliant. Their cheesy titles are quite misleading.

This one of the first pictures I ever took for bookstagram! I will forever recommend The Mortal Instruments to everyone. Because the characters. Because the plot. Because the epicness.

In my opinion Malorie Blackman is a very underrated author, whose books deserve a lot more credit than they are given. Tell Me No Lies is about bullying and I think it was a bit of an eye opener for me on the subject. It isn't portrayed in the way we usually see bullying because the focus is more on blackmail.

New Video! I made this one for Malala... It's called Dear Malala.

Olivia's Question: What books would you recommend as a must read?

  1. The Divergent Trilogy will forever be one of my faves, not matter if my heart broke. Anna and the French Kiss is coming up on my TBR soon. Your TMI books are just like mine, paperbacks and a hardcover. I try not to be so OCD about books matching but I really thought about getting all the new covers in hardcover and giving the ones on my shelf away. I was able to get the hardcovers for The Infernal Devices, so I just decided to keep everything as is. I'd recommend a favorite YA contemporary series of mine, The Superlative series by Jennifer Echols. Or one of my favorite little known fantasy series, The Watchers by Lynnie Purcell. I think you will especially love that one.

    1. I really do like that series as well! Oh, my TID series is even worse. Not a single one of the three is the same height. I don't actually mind too much about that kind of stuff though :P But I know what you mean! I will have to check out those ones. I have heard of the Superlative series but not the latter!

  2. I haven't yet read Allegiant. Not sure I'm going to get to it to be honest. For some reason, I just don't feel the pull of it. :)

    1. I guess if the second book hasn't excited you to try the rest, then I suppose there isn't anything for it then!

  3. In my defence, I couldn't get through Insurgent so I ended up abandoning the entire series. I would definitely recommend Dante and Ari as well. Love, love that book! And I'm a die-hard Mortal Instruments series fan, so I'll read that any day. :D

    Great pics, Olivia!

  4. I love this post - the photos are wonderful! I'm not so much a fan of Allegiant, but I do love The Mortal Instruments <3 I really want to read the others at some point this year

  5. The Mortal Instruments is one of my favourite series for sure! however, I quite disliked Allegiant and not because the "brave" turn Roth took. I mean, it was sad but for me it was a cop-out. The book has so many plot holes and inconsistencies that when I got to THAT moment I was like: "she did this so people will not pay attention to the mistakes LOL". It sucks though that so many people were spoiled about it. It takes sometimes the pleasure of reading.
I need to read Aristotle and Dante, I don't know why I haven't done so yet.
And I book I will always recommend as a must read is Wonder, among a lot of other amazing titles but Wonder is one that still makes me feel so much

    1. I think the book was okay. Yes, the twist was good but some other aspects of the books weren't the best. That aside though, I wish people wouldn't not read it because of it being spoiled! You really should read that one, I think you would like it ^^ Can't wait to read that this month!

  6. I haven’t yet read the Divergent series even though I’ve seen the first movie. Plus it also took me forever to read The Hunger Games trilogy. I’m still unsure when or if ever I’ll read the series, but will be adding it to my TBR list. Great photos, Olivia.

  8. Great pictures. I loved the first two Perkins books too. But I still need to get to Isla too. I definitely agree about the titles, and the old horrible covers that they used to have.

  10. I put off Anna and the French Kiss for so long because of the first covers. They were so cheesy and generic. That original cover didn't do it justice at all! I think Isla is my second favorite book in the trilogy (with Anna being my fave of course!)

  11. I still need to read Allegiant! It's been ages since I read Insurgent, but I enjoyed that one a lot less than the first book so I didn't continue with the next book straight away. Unfortunately I also already know the ending. I really need to read it before the next movies comes out though!

    1. Awh, it's a shame about already knowing what is gonna happen but it seems like everyone knows these days xD You should go for it before the movie comes out!

  13. I am one of those who can't read Allegiant, I just remember the love I felt for Divergent when I read it all those years ago, it blew me away. Ok I will maybe be brave and try and read it, it has been sitting on my shelf since the day it came out!
